D2R Die Lose Gear & Items. In Diablo II, as in real life, death is something you should strive to avoid. If your Hit Points drop to zero during the game, you have died. Press the Esc key after dying to restart in town. Your corpse will remain in the place where you died. You will have to return to your corpse in order to retrieve your gear and items.

Then if you die, that person can loot your body. But only what you had equipped. Everything in personal stash, inventory or on mercenary will be still gone so you cant save charms like this. In games of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, if you recover your corpse at the location of its demise, you can regain 75% of the experience points you lost. If, however, you choose to ‘Save and Exit’ out of your current game in order to restart and recover your body in town, you will not regain any of your lost experience.
I died a couple of times in a cow game. I left the game and returned to get my body back, and it only had my body armor. All of my other items were gone. I know there is some sort of “popping” thing associated with dying and picking up bodys with full inventories or something, but I was under the impression that this was fixed in like 2006.
In Nightmare you lose 1,000,000. In Hell you lose 2,000,000. 75% of the lost Experience can be retrieved if the Character’s corpse is recovered before the Player clicks Save and Exit (S+E). The Experience lost cannot cause a Character to lose their current Level. With enough deaths, you can be reduced to 0% Experience gained in the current Level.
Yes. To do this, you just need to return to the place where you died. Next to the body, you will find all the items that you had in your inventory. However, enemies will remain in the same position as when you die. If you go back for your equipment with no gear, collecting all the items can be much more difficult.
No, when you die you’ll drop a corpse, and you’re the only one who can grab it. You can either get back to the location where you died, or you can quit and join a new game, which will cause the corpse to move to your spawn point in town. No one else will be able to get your items from your corpse.
Quote. If you are killed, your character will lose a percentage of the total gold both carried and stored in the Stash. This percentage is equal to your character’s level but will not exceed 20%. After this ‘death penalty’ is deducted, the remaining gold your character was carrying falls to the ground in a pile.
