Here is an awesome visualization of the distances, courtesy of diablo.incgamers.com. Note the dashed lines that indicate different display ratios. So 10 yards gives you a radius about the height of your character, while 40 yards gives a circle that reaches just about to the edge of a 4:3 screen (note that you can see further in front of you than you …

Note that despite the yard being a real-world measure of distance (91.4 cm, or 0.9 m), in Diablo III, it does not match the real length. Each “yard” in game extends roughly 1 foot (30 cm, or 0.3m), with most human characters being approximately 6-7 in-game yards tall. In other words, a 10 yard in-game range is somewhere around 3 real-world yards.
30 yards extends roughly halfway to the edge of your screen. Condemn: Build up a massive explosion, unleashing it after 3 seconds, dealing 1160% weapon damage as Holy to all enemies within 15 yards.

Finally got my In-Geom so now rolling Tal/Vyrs Archon build. Everything is melting pretty fast but I’m having a hard time working out how far 30 yards is? I was guessing that it’s the ‘tip of the archon beam’, but can’t be sure. Anyone have a way of knowing easily? Cheers, Fish
Diameter is the circle edge to edge distance. When I use a skill with a 15 yard radius this means the effect has a diameter of 30 yards (diameter = radius X 2). When I cast this I see it covering maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the viewing window. This would imply the screen is 90-120 yards wide which is highly unlikely.
Example: lets assume of a 24′ 1920×1200 the view is 30 yards high Now a 24′ 1280×800 screen will only be 20 yards high, but because the screen is the same size (24′) each yard will look bigger and so will your character.

27 – Wave of Light (initial area effect has radius of 16 centered 11 yards out from the monk) 28 – Fists of Thunder (with Thunderclap rune, teleport range); only 14 if not targeting 50 – Dashing Strike (only when cursor is close to a target, otherwise 10) Witch Doctor 30-50 – Plague of Toads (average due to being random)
Something is off. Ten yards is 30 feet and if the character is six feet tall….. You can see that something doesn’t add up.
