Seasons are an optional, recurring game mode that allows you the opportunity to start fresh every few months, leveling a Normal or Hardcore character from scratch without previously earned items, paragon levels, materials and gold. A great positive of the Season is reliving the initial progression, and seeing a character grow in great strides.
At this point there is no word on the duration of the season. It is stated that they will be for a “limited duration”, that it will be between 1 to 6 months, and I heard (although not even from an unofficial source so take this with a grain of salt) that it could be when all of the conquest boards have 1000 users on them.
Seasons is like when you buy the game for the first time. You are correct. You get one free set and thats it. You can split it up between other characters. Say Bag 1, you let a necro open it, bag 2 a demon hunter, and bag 3 a monk. Each will only get 2 or 3 set pieces. Or if you choose to run as a wizard, open all 3 with the wiz and get the full set.
