There is no setting in Diablo 2 that lets you switch to windowed mode. You can use this little trick to put any game in windowed mode if you need to. First you will need to find your Diablo 2 Shortcut. After finding the shortcut you will need to edit your programs properties.

As mentioned I believe the switch would be either -w or /w. You would need to add that to a shortcut, so not sure what you are right clicking exactly. Tick it and underneath it, a bar will show up where you can type -popupwindow (or just copypaste). Confirm by clicking on “Done” and try running a game.
