How to unlock rifts diablo 3

Does one have to unlock Challenge Rifts ??? I thought u just go to game settings: Campaign, Adventure, Challenge Rift and just … select what u want. I tried starting a new save …

You start a private game in adventure mode, then click on the obelisk in town hub to open the Greater Rift. That dropdown is just the categorization of your game, like what you’ll be doing in that game. (Rift, Greater Rift, Bounties, etc) just for matchmaking purposes. Get in a greater rift in town at the Obelisk.
