What is suspend mode in gta 5

I just got this alert on GTA V. I was trying to join GTA Online and it put me in a game by myself. Above my map said “SAVE SUCCESSFUL”. I then tried to find a new session and this screen appeared almost instantly. Open to discussion on what you think this screen means.
