Why is my targeting mode locked on gta

For the past 2 days, I’m stuck on free aim targeting mode and it wont even let me change it from the settings as the option is greyed out. Ive never played gta without assisted targeting so needless to say I’m not used to it and would want to go back to it. Any help??

You can’t in online (you obviously can in offline). This is because every lobby has a fixed targeting mode (so people who want to play free aim aren’t getting their asses handed to themselves by people who are using auto aim). In my experience the game will always put you in a lobby with the targeting mode you are using at that moment in storymode.

My guess is: you have an elite controller and you have the hair triggers active. That or you’re in a free aim lobby

GTA Online does not allow players to change Targeting Modes while in the session. However, players can switch their Targeting Mode by switching to Story Mode.
